Wood Works: Evaluation

1.  How well did I do in completing all of the things that I needed to do for this project ? considering I finish my project on time, I think I did great.

2. My design ideas were:
Pull Along Tray
Train Toy
Piano Toy
Candy Dispenser
Car Toy
Mirror

3. My final design was the piano toy.

4. For my working drawing, I used a pencil and a ruler.

5. After drawing had to mark out the joints on the piece of wood.

6.My next step was to cut out the joints with the backed saw.

7. When you're chiselling out the joints you have to use a bench hook, mallet and a backed saw.

8. I then put the joints all together .

9. Looking at what I have produced I found out that the piano doesn't work but at least it looks good.

I wouldn't change anything if I had to do the piano again.

Kayaking At Wero White Water Park

Today we went to Wero White Water Park to learn how to kayak. We had arrived and sat down and waited a couple of minutes for the tutor to tell us to change into our togs.

We had to put on the wet suits, life jackets and a helmets on after that, we finally got to kayak.

The tutor led us to the end of the river and made a challenge to go back to shore without falling of the boat... We lost the challenge.

We took the wet suits, life jackets and our  helmets of and went to shower. We waited for every one to come out so we can leave, then we went back to school.
It was fun and exciting.

Lake Tekapo in for name change

Lake Tekapo is one of New Zealand most popular lakes. Lake Tekapo name might be changed into Lake Takapo.  Mackenzie District Deputy Mayor and James Leslie said that the name of Lake Tekapo is meaningless and need to be changed.

For them to make the Lake Tekapo name change official they have to have a proposal along with public consultation. The move that they are planing are supported by the council and the local businesses.

I think Lake Tekapo could use a name change because the name is a bit boring.

Tamaki Estuary

On Monday our whole school went to the Tamaki Estuary to help the environment  so plants can grow and our animals don't die of illness. by collecting rubbish. Frazier and his team Hazel and Ashly came to our school to tell us that we need to clean our local river because it is polluted with rubbish.

When we got to the Tamaki Estuary we had to get into partner. My partner were Frank. We had to go on the field to collect rubbish. We found a alot of rubbish all over the field.
After we were done cleaning we ate our lunch and went on the playground.

I'm happy  that we did something great for our planet.

Having Fun at the Wero Whitewater Park

On Friday the 21st of June. We went to the Wero Whitewater Park in Manukau. We split into teams of 3
the people in my team are Alamoni, Diego, Musika, Frank, Winnie, and Ana.

We got onto the Kayaking boat and our instructor said "I need 2 students that are  confident  to be at the front so the other people can follow your paste of paddling" Alamoni and I were at the front.

The part I really disliked was the part where we had to jump in the river because it's really not safe because you can sink.

I think we need instructors to go in the river so they can help us but it was still fun.

Samoan Language Week

It is Samoan language week the first out of seven pacific languages to be held this year. For Samoan language week some people around the country are learning how to speak, dress, or  preform a dance like a Samoan.

These are some of the Samoan phrases

Afio mai or Susu mai or Maliu mai – Welcome

Fa’afetai or Fa’afetai tele – Thank you

Malō, Malō soifua or Tālofa – Hello

In Samoan Language week the pacific people are celebrating their culture by using traditional food or things . I  am happy that I know some of the phrases of Samoan and I think it is a good way of meeting people that are Samoan.

Kiwi Can

Today after morning tea at 11: 30 we went to Kiwi Can. When we got there we sat on the floor and remained silent for them to announce themselves.

They're names are Miss Tuia and Mrs Mac. They said they were our tutors for the term. They taught us what respect and integrity means. Integrity means to do the right thing.

We had activities. The first game was bang, the second game was changes and the last game that we played was GKQ also known as general knowledge questions.  I was enjoying it and I think it is a unique and fun way to learn.
